Description of the project:
The Giant Tank Irrigation Scheme is located in Mannar administrative district, is one of the five major irrigation schemes in Northern Province. This tank provide irrigation to an extent of 12,145 Ha. Due to the un-avoidable situations prevailed in the country during last two decades, the Giant Tank that had provided the livelihood for more than seven thousand families, has presently a deteriorated head works and a dilapidated canal system. It has become very vital, in order to prevent any further deterioration of the situation.
